CVRetool was born out of a desire to support those impacted by the recent wave of federal employee layoffs. But we wanted to offer more than sympathy—we wanted to offer solutions. For many laid-off federal workers, the transition to the private sector can be daunting. Two key challenges stood out: first, identifying which private sector roles align with their federal experience; and second, transforming lengthy, government-formatted resumes into compelling, ATS-optimized documents that resonate with private sector recruiters. That’s where CVRetool comes in.
It begins by parsing federal resumes to identify transferable skills and experience, then matches those to relevant private sector job listings. From there, it generates tailored, applicant-tracking-system-friendly resumes designed to improve visibility and increase the chances of landing interviews. This is our version 1—the first step toward a more comprehensive platform.
